Special Olympics Norfolk
Special Olympics Norfolk provides sports training and competition for people with intellectual disabilities.
With qualified coaches we run a variety of sports groups coaching technical aspects of each sport. Our main aim is to give our athletes the ability to access sport in a happy, inclusive, friendly and safe enviroment.
Many of the people who participate in our sports groups do so for fun and to meet up with friends. Others take it more seriously and want to enter competitions locally, regionally or nationally.
Special Olympics is a worldwide organisation, the third member of the Olympic family, but unlike the Paralympics which is for elite disabled sportspeople, Special Olympics is for all abilities and all ages. Over 5 million people take part in Special Olympics sports groups in over 170 countries. Just like the Olympics, World Winter and Summer Games are held every 4 years.
